A new year, a new life

Recently, I came across a letter from a past member who I knew well. His name is Irlanzujuan Martin, and he was a two-time Youth of the Year from the Visitaction Valley Clubhouse. Here’s what he had to say:

I still remember the feeling when I first entered the doors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco…it was the first time in a long time that I had felt strong. It was just like being reborn. At the Club I didn’t have to worry about pain or the violence in my community. It was at that moment that I realized that the Club meant a new life and a new start for me.

– Irlanzujuan Martin (2009 & 2011 Youth of the Year)

Most of us look at New Year’s Day as a fresh start and a time to commit to changes in our lives. Every day young people walk in the doors of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco with that same spirit – they are determined to realize a bright future because they know that the staff has the expertise, compassion and resources to help youth like them build a great future.

Be a part of this transformative experience and support youth like Irlanzujuan. If you have donated recently, thank you! If you haven’t, please consider a gift today.

Thank you,
