On Saturday, November 19th, 2011, local non-profits buildOn and Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco hosted a “thanksGIVING” day of service from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at various locations throughout the city. More than 250 students from 16 Bay Area High Schools and members of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco took part in various community service activities — from beautifying Clubhouse gardens and cleaning-up neighborhoods, to serving meals to the homeless and spending time with senior citizens. The day concluded with a “thanksGIVING” meal (donated by Lucca’s Catering) at the Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point, (195 Kiska Road), where all participants reflected on the day and gave recognition to others.
