BACKGROUND

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco relocated the Visitacion Valley Clubhouse in 2011 to the Rec & Park at 251 Leland Avenue, owned and operated by San Francisco Park & Recreation. The new Club is approximately 2,500 square feet, with a spacious outdoor field – including a playground, full baseball field and soccer area. The Club also utilizes space from the Visitacion Valley Elementary School down the street, as well as the newly renovated Visitacion Valley library. The new Clubhouse serves nearly 100 youth each day and excels at educational and athletic programs.

PROGRAMS AT Visitacion Valley Clubhouse

Literacy Enrichment Programs

Our Literacy Enrichment programs strive to build foundational literacy skills and foster a lifelong love of learning in youth members. Youth are engaged through field trips, art, and technology activities that infuse literacy outcomes.

Interactive Reading Program

One of the main Interaction Reading programs offered at Visitacion Valley Clubhouse is the the Puppy Dog Tales program, in partnership with the San Francisco SPCA. Youth members are able to read aloud to therapy dogs to help with reading proficiency and to practice fluency and decoding skills.

Sports Leagues

Visitacion Valley Clubhouse offers seasonal league sports including flag football, basketball, baseball and soccer. During the summer, Clubhouse youth participate in weekly recreational swimming at Coffman Pool in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood where we connect 25 youth with swim lessons annually.

Other Programs at Visitacion Valley

Members can also participate in a tinkering program led by the Exploratorium and gardening program led by facilitators from the Visitacion Valley Greenway.
