Rob Connolly
President

As President, Rob Connolly is responsible for all aspects of Boys & Girls Clubs in San Francisco’s eight Clubhouses, two school-based sites, and Camp Mendocino. He oversees an operation with 92 full-time and 62 part-time employees, with an additional 150 seasonal employees during the summer.

Rob has worked for Boys & Girls Clubs since 1998, serving two years in Washington DC prior to joining Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco in late 1999. He briefly served as Executive Director for San Francisco Boys & Girls Club prior to a 2001 merger; and as Vice President of Administration and Chief Operating Officer before becoming President in 2005.

During his tenure with BGCSF, Rob and his team have developed and implemented programs and services that measurably improve the lives of young people, including enhanced health and mental health services; youth workforce development programs and opportunities; supplemental educational services (everyday homework help, free professional tutors, SAT prep, college application assistance, college tours, the Camp2College program and over $1M of college scholarships annually); outdoor education and environmental awareness; and much more.  Over this period, the total youth served by BGCSF has grown from 7,000 to 17,000 and average daily attendance has grown from approximately 800 to as high as 1,600.

Rob has spent a significant amount of time and energy modernizing the facilities in which BGCSF’s programs and services are offered, actively overseeing $40M of construction projects, including Camp Mendocino, the Willie Mays Clubhouse at Hunters Point, the Mission Clubhouse, and the new Don Fisher Clubhouse and John N. Callander Administrative Offices.  Rob has played the lead staff role in raising nearly $60 million through the Club’s Brighter Futures Capital Campaign.

Rob received his B.A. from Yale University where he played varsity basketball, captaining the team his senior year. He attended Oxford University as a Visiting Study Fellow and has lived abroad in Guatemala, England, and Spain. He is married and has two daughters.

Maxine Wilson
Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Maxine is in-charge of the day-to-day operations of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. This includes overseeing the senior management team to ensure successful execution of the BGCSF mission and strategic plan. Maxine provides active oversight, while ensuring high performance and effective communication among BGCSF team members. She provides leadership and drives accountability throughout the organization.

Maxine has been active with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco for more than 14 years. She began her career with BGCSF as a Job Readiness Coordinator, and then quickly moved into Director level positions which ultimately led to her accepting the position of Vice President of Operations.  In her VP role, she had a broad array of departments and/or areas of focus under her supervision, including Human Resources, IT, Outcomes Measurement, Facility Management, Risk Management, Training, Program Services and Finance. These responsibilities have given Maxine a deep understanding of nonprofit management and a strong knowledge of how our specific organization functions.

Prior to joining Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, Maxine worked as a social services professional for various organizations in the Houston, Chicago and Atlanta communities. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lamar University and Masters in Non-Profit Administration from the University of San Francisco.

David Mauroff
Vice President of Operations

As Vice President of Operations, David Mauroff is developing an operations platform to make sure BGCSF Clubhouses meet our standards as state-of-the-art facilities. He is also revitalizing and improving partnerships with the San Francisco Police Department, Juvenile Probation, Public Health, School District, other city agencies and community-based organizations. David has a passion for helping crime and gang-involved youth and adults from distressed neighborhoods. He launched Green Streets and Sunrise Sidewalk Cleaners based on the Community Owned Social Enterprise model he developed, by empowering individuals to become entrepreneurs who develop and operate their own businesses. A documentary film produced in concert with Citizen Film serves as a tool to create and activate Green Streets partnerships that address wage disparity, provide employment opportunities to individuals with multiple barriers to work, and change the culture of work in socioeconomically isolated neighborhoods. David currently serves as a member of the National Criminal Justice Association Advisory Council and still provides support to Green Streets. He was involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Gang Advisory Committee for many years and served the San Francisco Mayor’s Office in a number of capacities related to community development and violence reduction. He co-founded the Friends of Balboa Park Playground with his neighbors and their efforts resulted in millions of dollars of improvements to their local park. When David isn’t working, he volunteers at his daughter’s public school and is on the Board of Cuicacalli School of Dance.

Denise Wang-Kline
Vice President of Development

As Vice President of Development, Denise is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Development Department, donor relations and directing the overall fundraising strategy for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. As a member of BGCSF’s Executive Team, Denise works closely with President Rob Connolly and the senior team to create strategic initiatives and partnerships for the organization. Previously, Denise worked as Director of Development for Bridge the Gap College Prep, where she was responsible for building the organization’s Development Department, which included developing its major gifts strategy and creating a sustainable annual fundraising event. Prior to that, she was a Trustee at Marin Country Day School and The Urban School of San Francisco, where she served on the Capital Campaigns of both schools and chaired the Development Committee for The Urban School of SF. Denise received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Administration from Florida State University. Denise currently serves on the Board of the San Francisco Education Fund and is chairwoman of the Development Committee and member of the Board Governance Committee.

Jennifer Berger
Vice President of Program Services

As Vice President of Program Services, Jennifer is responsible for the daily operations, programs, outcomes and staff development for our eight Clubhouses and two school-based sites. Jennifer manages a team of Area Directors and the Program Services Leadership Team, who are responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of programs and staff across all BGCSF sites. Jennifer Berger joined Boys & Girls Cubs of San Francisco in 2006 and brings 20 years of youth development and leadership experience to her work. In her previous role as Senior Director of Program Services at BGCSF, Jennifer directly managed six different Clubhouses. Jennifer has taken a leadership role in the planning and execution of the Strategic Plan, all-staff professional development across the organization, and strategic partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs) and city agencies. Jennifer serves as a member of BGCSF’s Executive Team and as Chair of the Service Provider Working Group, a collaborative of CBOs serving youth and families, who provide recommendations and feedback to the SF Department of Children, Youth & Their Families. Jennifer received a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College, where she majored in Political Science and English. Prior to joining BGCSF, Jennifer worked at the International Institute of San Francisco for more than six years, where she was hired to develop and run a peer-tutoring progam for recent immigrant teens at Newcomer High School and later promoted to Director of Youth Programs. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Jennifer facilitated youth development programs on the east coast.

Joni Lachman
Vice President of Institutional Giving

Joni began working for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco in 1999. In her current role as Vice President of Institutional Giving, She works closely with program leadership and direct service staff to fully understand our programs, our core values, and, ultimately, our impact on disadvantaged youth. With this program understanding, she researches, compiles, writes and edits grants to private foundations and public agencies. She and the President play the lead roles in managing relationships with active grantors. As a member of BGCSF’s Executive Team, she helps set the framework for measures of agency success, communicating these measures to funders, and allocating and aligning resources to achieve our objectives for our Club members. With grant partnerships, Joni also helps fund our agency infrastructure. She worked with local and national foundations, and government funders for new facility construction and renovation, helping BGCSF successfully meet Brighter Futures Capital Campaign goals. She continuously works with local institutional funders for ongoing facility maintenance, such as roofing, plumbing and heating. Joni’s prior professional experience includes development work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Raphael House, a San Francisco shelter for homeless families. Joni received her B.A. and a M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University. She has lived in San Francisco for more than twenty years and is married and with two daughters.

Harold Love
Area Director & Senior Director

Harold Love was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois. Although he calls the Bay Area in home, he considers himself a Midwesterner at heart. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and his Masters of Science degree in Human Services Administration from Springfield University. Harold has been working in human services for more than 25 years, with 11 years dedicated to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. As a member of BGCSF’s Executive Team, Harold has overseen operations at Sunnydale Clubhouse, Visitacion Valley Clubhouse, Ernest Ingold Clubhouse (now Don Fisher Clubhouse), Tenderloin Clubhouse, and Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point, and managed Camp Mendocino for two seasons. He has also supervised program staff for Teen Services, Health & Fitness, Social Recreation, Art and Athletics, to name a few. In 2010, Harold was promoted to Senior Director of Operations and worked closely with the Vice President of Operations to strengthen the Club’s facilities and vehicle maintenance systems, risk management protocol, policy and procedural compliance, and approach to overall safety. When he is not working at the Club, Harold enjoys spending time with his spouse, listening to hip hop music and playing golf.

Heidi Coffer
Controller

As Controller for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, Heidi oversees all finance-related activities throughout the organization, including reporting, financial analysis, compliance and audit preparation. Heidi has nearly two decades of experience working for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. In her former role as an audit manager for CPA firm Lautze & Lautze, Heidi led the outside audit of BGCSF in 1997 through 2007. After leaving the firm in 2007, Heidi built an independent CPA practice serving numerous non-profit organizations in the Bay Area, including BGCSF. Throughout the years, Heidi has built a broad knowledge of finance and accounting challenges facing nonprofits today. Since August 2013, she has been applying this expertise at BGCSF in her current role as Controller for the organization.

Jackie Lagomarsino
Senior Director of Human Resources

Jackie Lagomarsino joined Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco in June 2016. As Senior Director of Human Resources, Jackie is responsible for implementing and managing high quality human resources program and services. Jackie has more than 20 years of progressive Human Resources experience. In addition to having a bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting, Jackie is a certified PHR (Professional in Human Resources) through the Human Resources Certification Institute and CP (Certified Professional) though the Society for Human Resources Management. Val Brown
Senior Director of Marketing & PR

Val Brown brings 14 years of brand and digital marketing experience to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, joining as Senior Director of Marketing and PR in 2016. Beginning her career at Universal in 2001, Valerie developed a passion for digital marketing while promoting the debut album for Grammy Award® Winner, Diana Krall. As the Bravo Network’s first marketing hire, she executed its relaunch in 2005, developing integrated marketing campaigns for original series such as Project Runway, Top Chef, and The Real Housewives Franchise. Her tenure at Bravo resulted in numerous digital and event marketing awards from organizations such as Advertising Age, The Shorty Awards and Biz Bash. Most recently, Valerie served as a Marketing Consultant to nonprofits such as Not For Sale where she relaunched its website and enhanced brand messaging, social media and email marketing efforts. Val is an alumna of Pace University, New York, where she served as an alumni mentor and interview coach to undergraduate students until leaving her hometown for the Bay Area to explore a career in cause marketing. Carlton Eichelberger
Area Director

As a youth development professional, Carlton Eichelberger empowers and supports youth in character and leadership development, educational and career development, health and life skills, and the arts. Carlton has more than 17 years experience working with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. He currently serves as the Area Director for the Excelsior District, San Francisco Community School and Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point. Carlton also has extensive experience establishing relationships with key community partners and collaborating with neighborhood organizations. Carlton began his career with BGCSF in 1998 at Tenderloin Clubhouse, where he helped establish a teen program and the first Keystone Club. Carlton held several positions at the Tenderloin Clubhouse before he became Excelsior Clubhouse Director in 2005. In 2011, Carlton was promoted to Area Director. Carlton graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. In his spare time, Carlton serves on the Board of an art nonprofit organization and he coaches youth basketball. Chelsea Murdock
Area Director

In her current position as the Area Director for Citywide Services, Chelsea Murdock is responsible for alignment, collaboration, and coordination of strategic youth programs across all BGCSF sites. Chelsea has more than 15 years of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating nonprofit programs. She has been with BGCSF since 2014, initially as the Director of Outcome Measurement. Prior to joining BGCSF, Chelsea worked for two Boys & Girls Club organizations in the Bay Area, and the Salt Lake City Valley Clubhouse as a Program Director responsible for day-to-day youth programs at the Clubhouse. She also spent several years as an Assistant Director to oversee a division of a consulting firm specializing in program evaluation. Pat Zamora
Area Director

Patricia Zamora is an Area Director for the Tenderloin, Mission and Columbia Park Clubhouses. At BGCSF, she has been a leader for the Boeddeker Park Community Hub by supporting collective impact model planning and implementation as part of BGCSF’s role as Master Tenant for Boeddeker Park. Patricia is also a visual artist and manages the Citywide Creative Arts program for BGCSF. She is a founding member of the Tenderloin Safe Passage Project and served as President of the Advisory Board for Safe Passage. Patricia is also a member of the Saint Francis Memorial Hospital Community Advisory Committee-Tenderloin Health Improvement Partnership. She is the recipient of numerous community awards, such as the Chicago Council on Human Relations Unsung Heroine Award, and BGCSF 2008 Clubhouse Director of the Year.  In previous roles, Pat helped create an award-winning restorative peer jury model for the Chicago Public Schools, where she advocated for the successful inclusion of restorative practices in the Chicago Public School Discipline Code.

Erin Gutierrez
Visitacion Valley Clubhouse Director

Erin Gutierrez joined Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco in January. Since that time, she served the organization in several capacities including Education Director, Program Manager, and Clubhouse Director for Sunnydale Clubhouse and Visitacion Valley Clubhouse. Erin has achieved great success in providing high-quality programming at her Club sites. She won a Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Program Excellence Award for an all-girls group program she co-led in 2009. Under her leadership, Visitacion Valley Clubhouse and Sunnydale Clubhouse won National Merit Awards for Program Excellence in the areas of Education and Character and Leadership in 2010 and 2013. Erin is an active community member in the greater Visitacion Valley community, where she is raising her two daughters. Erin also has served as a Girls Scout troop leader and PTA President at Visitacion Valley Elementary from 2011 to 2015.  Prior to joining BGCSF, Erin worked for nine years at Seneca Center for Children and Families. Erin has a master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Esan Looper
Tenderloin Clubhouse Director

Esan Looper has more than 20 years of experience as an educator and youth developer.  He is a native San Franciscan and alumnus of Columbia Park Clubhouse. Esan graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral in 1989 and then St. Michael’s College in 1993. After dedicating 10 years of his career in youth development, classroom teaching and school administration in Providence, Rhode Island, he returned to San Francisco in 2003. Esan spent three years directing after-school programs in San Francisco, at institutions such as San Francisco Community School. In that role, Excelsior Clubhouse recognized Esan as the 2004 Outstanding Community Partner. His first role with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco was serving as a Summer Generalist at Excelsior Clubhouse and later as a Program Manager at Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunter Point Clubhouse. At Willie Mays, Esan earned Program Manager of the Year and the Clubhouse earned a Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) national award in 2009. In 2011, Esan became Clubhouse Director for Tenderloin Clubhouse. Esan has been honored twice as the Clubhouse Director of the Year, and under his leadership, Tenderloin Clubhouse earned an Outstanding Clubhouse Performance award, BGCA National Honor Award and BGCA National Merit Award.

Germaine Bond
Willie Mays Clubhouse Director

Germaine Bond was raised in the Bayview-Hunters Point community on Third Street & Palou Avenue where her family owned and operated one of the most popular and authentic soul food restaurants. Germaine, who is known as Ms. Maine by our youth and parents, discovered her passion and purpose in youth development during her adolescent years. She landed her first job in the Western Addition at Operation Contact as a Youth Girls Coordinator, where she served in that position for eight years. She later returned to Bayview-Hunters Point as the Youth Director for Bayview Hunters Point YMCA. Her tenure at YMCA paved the way for her professional development in areas of fiscal management, grant writing, program development and what she values most from the founding principles of youth development: building and nurturing relationships with the children and youth she serves. She served 12 years at Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, with her last position as Senior Program Director. Germaine’s roots, commitment and professional experience led her to the opportunity to serve as Clubhouse Director for Sunnydale Clubhouse, where she helped children from this community, many of whom are subject to crime, poverty, hunger, low-performance learning institutions and negligible mental wellness. At Sunnydale Clubhouse, Germaine worked to create a place of safety, trust, consistency and structure. Germaine became Clubhouse Director for Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point in 2016. Germaine believes her dream in youth development has manifested by allowing her to be home in Bayview-Hunters Point and charting her passion and purpose for families in the community.

Jasmine Douville
Mission Clubhouse Director

As Clubhouse Director for Mission Clubhouse, Jasmine Douville is able to share her expertise in art and education with the Mission District community. Jasmine was born and raised in California. Jay Nunez

Jay Nunez has served as Clubhouse Director for Columbia Park Clubhouse for the past four years. Jay graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies, and he received his Master of Arts degree in Education from San Francisco State University. Jay received his PhD in International Education from Stanford University. Prior to working for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, Jay was a Vice Principal and Educator at Leadership High School in San Francisco. Jennifer Snyder
Excelsior Clubhouse Director

Jennifer Snyder has been Clubhouse Director for Excelsior Clubhouse for nearly five years. Her career with Boys & Girls Clubs began 12 years ago when she served as a Youth Development Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley in Mesa, Arizona. During 2008, Jennifer was promoted to Branch Executive of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley’s Guadalupe Branch. Prior to her career with Boys & Girls Clubs in Mesa, Jennifer was the Youth Program Director for the Phoenix Sister Cities Commission and Office of Protocol. In her former role as Youth Program Director, Jennifer coordinated an international teacher’s conference, youth art competitions and an international youth exchange, to name a few. Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from Arizona State University. When she’s not working with youth at Excelsior Clubhouse, Jennifer enjoys playing dominoes, spending time at Lake Tahoe and helping to raise awareness and support for the Melanoma Research Foundation.

Sara Richardson
Camp Director

Sara Richardson became Camp Director in 2016 after serving as Assistant Camp Director for Programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco for almost four years. As Camp Director, Sara provides oversight of the programs and daily operations for Camp Mendocino’s 2,000-acre facility in Mendocino County. Many of her responsibilities include: Hiring and training staff; ensuring the safety and well-being of all Campers and staff; developing and overseeing Camp programs; overseeing the recruitment and registration of Campers; managing the Camp budget and rental process and ensuring that Camp continues to meet the needs of young people in our community.

Prior to joining BGCSF in 2012, Sara provided program leadership to a gang prevention grant and day camp for a Boys & Girls Club in Southern California, as well as led a residential substance abuse program in Detroit, Michigan. Sara received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Women & Gender Studies, and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy.

Spencer Tolliver
Don Fisher Clubhouse Director

Spencer Tolliver graduated from Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After graduation, he accepted the Bess K. Gallard Teaching Fellowship at the Branson School in California, in association with the Multi-Cultural Alliance. He continued to work at the Branson School until he became Dean of Students at Gateway High School. At Gateway High School, he served as the school’s first Dean, the first Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, and ninth-grade teacher in Humanities. From 2001 to 2006, he served as the principal of Youth Chance High School, a private, alternative school for at-risk youth operated by the San Francisco YMCA. He also served as the leader of the YMCA’s Public Affairs team and was a member of the SF Workforce Investment Board’s Youth Council. During his tenure as principal, Spencer served as a Trustee for the San Francisco Friends School, and from 2006 to 2008, he served as the Associate Head of School. In his previous roles at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, Spencer served as Director of Educational Services, where he lead the organization’s Education Initiative, revitalized the Power Hour program, strengthened the tutoring program, managed the scholarship program and also led Arts and Technology programs. He was also one of BGCSF’s Citywide Directors who helped design the space for the new Don Fisher Clubhouse. In 2012, Spencer was appointed to be the last Clubhouse Director of Ernest Ingold Clubhouse and the first Clubhouse Director of Don Fisher Clubhouse. Although Spencer has many recreational activities he enjoys, the one he refers to above all others is his passion for making barbeque sauce.

Brian Sauer
Director of Citywide Education

Brian Sauer has been involved in education leadership for nearly two decades in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began his career as an SFUSD classroom teacher, where he taught middle and high school courses in Biology and Mathematics. Prior to joining BGCSF, Brian was the Program Director at Juma Ventures, A Bay Area social enterprise that provides employment, financial capability skills and academic support to first generation college students. Brian joined Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco in 2015. In his role as Director of Citywide Education, Brian is responsible for supporting the development and alignment of academic programs across all sites. He received his undergraduate degree from Marquette University and California Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University.

Danielle Soto
Director of Outcome Measurement

Danielle Soto joined Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco in 2016 as the Director of Outcome Measurement. She has more than a decade of experience and background in research and analysis of adolescent well-being and risk, with a focus on gendered and racial/ethnic inequalities. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Montana, as well as a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University in Sociology/Criminology. She also received minor degrees in Family Studies and Quantitative Methods while completing her Ph.D. Danielle has always had a strong drive to use her professional skills in research and analytics to help youth, and she found that a career in non-profit development was the perfect fit.

Debby Machold
Citywide Director of Behavioral Health Services

Debby Machold joined BGCSF in 2004 as the Citywide Director of Behavioral Health Services. Debby is responsible for ensuring the social and emotional health of our Club members in the city and at Camp Mendocino. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and oversees a small clinical team, who provide individual, group and family therapy to Club members along with case management services. Prior to joining BGCSF, Debby was a clinician specializing in addictions, sexual trauma, and crisis intervention. Debby also served as a Program Director and Interim Unit Director for a Boys & Girls Club on the east coast. Debby holds dual Masters degrees – a Masters of Social Work from University of South Carolina and a Masters of Science in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University. In her role, Debby strives to embed support into daily programming and works to reduce the stigma associated with mental health services. By building a culture of nurturing and support, she strives to reduce the impacts of trauma and increase resilience of our Club members. Additional responsibilities include supporting overall risk management, minimizing the effects of trauma, violence prevention and intervention, supporting staff development and wellness, and infusing the developmental assets throughout BGCSF.

Dominick Anthony
Site Director, San Francisco Community School

Dominick Anthony currently serves as Site Director for BGCSF’s school-based site at San Francisco Community School in the Excelsior District. Dominick joined BGCSF initially as the Education Director at Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point. Dominick remained in his role as Education Director for about three years before transitioning into his current role as Site Director. Prior to his career with BGCSF, Dominick served a as an educator in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood as a preschool teacher and education manager. He brings more than 13 years of youth development experience to our organization. Dominick is a native of San Francisco raised in the Ingleside neighborhood. He is a former Club kid as well as Camp Mendocino alumni. He is a college graduate of Howard University, which is one of the prominent institutions in U.S. Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). He holds bachelor degrees in Early Education and Criminal Justice, as well as a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Mary’s College of California.

James Holley
Director of Operations

James Holley was born and raised in San Francisco, where he has been a leader in youth development for 20 years. He is a Club alumnus of the Portola Branch and Camp Mendocino. After graduating high school, James studied at San Francisco State University. James returned to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, where he has now dedicated 13 years of service to the organization. Throughout his career at BGCSF, James has served as a Program Manager at Camp Mendocino and Clubhouse Director for Sunnydale Clubhouse. James also served as the first Clubhouse Director for Visitacion Valley Clubhouse and Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point. He spent two years in a manager role at Camp Mendocino, and he continues to support Camp by providing trainings, supporting Camp operations and volunteering his time during weekends as a Purple Kumquat. James takes pride in hosting and providing tours of our facilities for dignitaries such as Willie Mays, the late Don Fisher, Alice Waters, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Former United States Attorney Eric Holder. Outside of BGCSF, James has extensive experience working with the San Francisco Housing Authority. He has served on the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) Standards Committee and helped with the implementation of the Community Response Network, a crisis response team that supported District 10 and other San Francisco neighborhoods at that time. James is a big supporter of the San Francisco Police Department, and he often coordinates rafting trips and outdoor education with the SFPD Wilderness Adventure Youth Program and takes part in speaking with cadets at the police academy.

Jamin McVeigh
Director of Development

A native of the Bay Area and current resident of San Francisco, Jamin McVeigh joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco as Director of Development in 2016. Jamin most recently served at Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco as Development & Marketing Officer, helping to provide affordable housing opportunities for underserved, local families in Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Starting in volunteer services and database management, Jamin was promoted to Development Officer in 2008 and Development & Marketing Officer in 2011. With more than 10 years of nonprofit experience, Jamin has a strong background and expertise in fundraising, marketing and volunteer engagement. Jamin earned her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of California at San Diego. In her spare time, Jamin is an active volunteer with Girls on the Run Bay Area as well as the Alzheimer’s Association. She currently lives in San Francisco with her husband and enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the city and traveling.

Jenny Beck
Director of Institutional Giving

Jenny Beck began working for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco in 2007. During that time, she worked closely with Club and Camp staff to identify funding needs and pursue grant funds from local private foundations and public agencies. In 2008, she became Director of Corporate Giving, working closely with Board members, local and national companies to support BGCSF through financial contributions, event sponsorship and volunteerism. Jenny left BGCSF in 2010 to be close to home and take care of her first child as a freelance grant writer. She returned to BGCSF in 2015 as Director of Institutional Giving. In this current role, Jenny seeks funding from local foundations and city, state and federal agencies that share BGCSF’s mission and support our work. Jenny received a Bachelors of Art degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Bank Street College of Education. In addition to her prior experience as a classroom teacher, non-profit administrator and program director, Jenny has more than 10 years of experience in grant writing.

Keegan Mills
Director of Learning and Development

As Director of Learning and Development, Keegan Mills leads BGCSF’s training and professional development program, while supporting staff in their growth as professionals working in youth development. Keegan has been an educator for over 15 years, having previously served in higher education by developing and implementing leadership development and social justice programs for college students. She also delivered high quality trainings for staff to support inclusive and diverse work environments. Her first experience with Boys and Girls Clubs was serving as a camp counselor in 1998 for Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston summer camp, now called Crossroads for Kids. Since then, she has dedicated her professional and personal life to social justice education, community engagement, youth empowerment and leadership development. Originally from Florida, Keegan graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and moved to Washington, DC to delve into the nonprofit world. She is an alumnae of Americorps*VISTA, serving two years in the DC Public Schools providing training and development to school staff on incorporating service into the curriculum and supporting students’ engagement with service in the DC community. Keegan also holds a Master of Education from the University of Delaware and has had the opportunity to live in many urban cities throughout the U.S. including, Washington D.C., Baltimore, New York, and San Francisco, which she now calls home.

LaCresha Mcmanus
Director of Citywide Teen Services

LaCresha McManus is an alumna of California State University, Sacramento, with seven years of experience as a youth development professional. LaCresha is a proud Boys & Girls Club alumna who credits Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme for her personal and professional success. LaCresha has worked with Club teens for the past six years. Her accomplishments include: Opening an Evening Reporting Center for juvenile youth in her hometown of Oxnard, California; training Boys & Girls Club professionals across the country about teen programming, serving on national steering committees for numerous teen leadership conferences and helping to develop Service Learning curriculum. LaCresha serves on Keystone Club’s Pacific Region Advisory Council for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Most recently, LaCresha was recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of America as the recipient of the Debra Williams Clark 2016 Spirit of Keystone Award, which acknowledges Club leaders who have the commitment to inspire and coach advisors in the Keystone movement to build a tradition of excellence.

Lois Hoganes
Director of Human Resources

Lois Hoganes has dedicated 15 years to working for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. Prior to BGCSF, she worked as an operations manager for the retirement plans division of a major local bank.  Using her prior experience in managing staff, customer service and retail sales, she embarked on a Human Resources career in 2001, when she first joined the organization as a temporary Human Resources staff member. As Director of Human Resources, Lois reports to the senior director of Human Resources and handles benefits administration and compliance with oversight of payroll. Lois also co-chairs the organization’s Wellness Committee for staff with co-chair and Director of Citywide Health and Fitness, Tavi Baker. Lois was born and raised in San Francisco, and she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. She is married to another San Francisco native and together they have a daughter who currently attends middle school. In her spare time, Lois enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching her daughter’s basketball games, learning Mandarin and reading books about functional medicine and nutrition.

Matthew Henry
Site Director, Sunnydale Clubhouse

Matthew Henry is the Site Director at Sunnydale Clubhouse. Before joining BGCSF, Matthew worked for Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) based in Santa Clara County, Alameda County and San Mateo County. At FLY, Matthew held multiple roles, ranging from program management to analytical work. Prior to moving to the Bay Area Matthew resided in Fresno Ca, where he started his career in the social service field. While attending California State University Fresno, where he graduated with his BS, Matthew worked as a Child Care Worker in group homes. After his work in the community Matthew became a Juvenile Correctional Officer for Fresno County of Probation, and after two years he decided to stray away from punitive work, and focus on preventative work in our communities. Which has led him to the BGCSF.

Mercedes Reed
Site Director at KIPP SF College Prep

Mercedes Reed is the Site Director for BGCSF programming at KIPP SF College Prep. In this unique partnership, four dedicated BGCSF staff members work within the school to offer a variety of programming to the students including leadership, character building, mentorship and job readiness. Mercedes has worked to build a sustainable program at the school by partnering with students, parents, teachers and administration to integrate the skills of BGCSF into the school culture.
Mercedes grew up in Indiana and as a youth was an active participant in after school and camp programs which instilled a love for recreation programming and youth development.  For undergrad, Mercedes received a Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon graduation, she was an AmeriCorps VISTA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked with a service learning program that connected science majors to lead afterschool science clubs in the community. Mercedes was then a Site Director for an elementary after school program through Red Caboose for four years where she honed her skills around strong programming and staff and youth development. In January 2014, Mercedes moved to San Francisco and started working at BGCSF as the Site Director of KIPP SF College Prep. Mercedes also works at Camp Mendocino as a Program Manager in the summer to let out her inner camp kid.

Michael Vuong
Site Director at Boeddeker Park

In his current role as Site Director at Boeddeker Park, Michael Vuong provides guidance and leadership around policy building, program scheduling, and overall visioning of Boeddeker Park, while creating a safe and welcoming space for youth in the Tenderloin community. As a BGCSF alumnus, Michael joined Columbia Park Clubhouse at 12 years old and became a founding teen member at Excelsior Clubhouse and later became a founding member of the newly-renovated Columbia Park Clubhouse. During his time as a Club member, Michael was heavily involved with BGCSF leadership programs such as Torch Club and Keystone Club, which helped earn him the award of Youth of the Year for Columbia Park Clubhouse. During his 15 year-tenure in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Movement, Michael has served as a Teen Staff, Social Recreation Coordinator, Teen Services Director, Technology Coordinator and Athletics Director at multiple BGCSF Club sites. Within these roles and his current role, Michael has served as a mentor to help to support others in building their programs, while establishing strong basics around programming as important factors in the work we do at BGCSF. He believes that by creating a culture of strong fundamentals, it becomes easier to do the great things that our amazing youth can achieve.

Nate Ford
Director of Citywide Athletics

Nate Ford grew up in the Western Addition, where he was a member of Ernest Ingold Clubhouse (now Don Fisher Clubhouse) since the age of six. Nate attended San Francisco State University before deciding to work for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. In 1990, Nate was appointed Athletic Director of Ernest Ingold Clubhouse, where he served 18 years in that role. During that time, Nate led all athletic programs for Ernest Ingold Clubhouse, including baseball, flag football, indoor soccer, volleyball, track and field and his most beloved sport: basketball. One of Nate’s proudest accomplishments is establishing the Pee Wee Basketball program and the SF Rebels Basketball program, a traveling basketball program that allows players to travel regionally and nationally to compete in tournaments, while also fulfilling academic requirements. More than 60 Rebels players have graduated from high school and gone on to play basketball in college. In 2008, Nate was named Citywide Athletics Director to oversee the entire Athletic Program for all eight Clubhouses. Throughout his career, Nate has served on many advisory boards and has garnered several community service awards.

Tavi Baker
Director of Citywide Health & Fitness

As Citywide Director of Health & Fitness, Tavi is charged with ensuring that Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco is the healthiest place for youth in San Francisco. This includes working with staff and youth focused on three areas: a healthy Clubhouse environment, health education and promotion, and access to health services. In partnership with Board member Dr. Curtis Chan, Tavi co-chairs BGCSF’s Health Advisory Board, a group of diverse professionals committed to promoting the health of under-served youth in San Francisco. Tavi has been with BGCSF for more than nine years.  She has served as Community Adjunct Faculty at San Francisco State University, and currently she supervises UCSF medical students and SFSU health education interns at BGCSF to help them learn about community health programs. Tavi was a founding member of UCSF’s University Community Partnerships Council and is active in Shape Up San Francisco and The Children’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Working Group. Prior to joining BGCSF, Tavi served as the Program Director of the YMCA Teen Center in East Oakland. She also has supervised the School-Based Health Center at Oakland Technical High School. Tavi earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from U.C. Berkeley and a master’s degree in Public Health from UCLA.
