Dear BGCSF Families, Friends, and Supporters,
I am reaching out to share an exciting update. Yesterday, we celebrated the grand opening dedication and ribbon-cutting event for the Hub in Sunnydale. The Hub is a brand-new community center, in which Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) is thrilled to be operating a new state-of-the-art Clubhouse.
BGCSF has been a consistent presence in Sunnydale for over 30 years, and we are thrilled to be growing our services and expanding our impact in the neighborhood. Although the Hub officially opened yesterday, BGCSF has been serving youth in the new Springer Clubhouse in Sunnydale for six weeks. It has been wonderful to witness young people in this beautiful space where they can actively and passionately pursue and realize their dreams.
I invite you to take a virtual tour of the space and share in the experience.
I want to take this opportunity to offer a heartfelt thank you to our Board of Governors for their willingness to take on this ambitious project, a key component of our transformative Capacity-Building Campaign.
I want to recognize and appreciate our three campaign co-chairs, Jamie Ford, Rocky Fried, and Drew McKnight. As well, I want to thank our Trustees for their generous support of the campaign and this project, and, in particular, Trustee Dan Springer for his leadership gift to this important project. Additionally, many others leaned in to support the Capacity-Building Campaign and I thank them for their generosity and trust in the work of the Club.
These donors and Board leaders allow BGCSF to keep stepping up where kids and families need us most, realizing great opportunities, tackling tough challenges, and always moving forward.
I hope you enjoy the photos from the grand opening dedication and ribbon cutting yesterday. It was wonderful to come together with Sunnydale residents and our Hub partners, including Mercy Housing, Related Builders, Wu Yee Children’s Services, and the City of San Francisco in a shared celebration.
Sincerely,
Rob Connolly
President, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco
A year ago, I was a high school senior navigating my final year at Lowell High School and balancing my commitment to soccer and school leadership activities. That’s when I was nominated to participate in Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Youth of the Year program as the finalist from Mission Clubhouse.
Calling all teens! Through our Leaders-In-Training Program, teens become “ready for life” through unique projects, coaching, career exploration and on-the-job training. We welcome all teens in grades 9-12 who want to be part of a welcoming and inclusive environment and develop their leadership skills!
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our families, donors, staff, and volunteers. This time of year highlights the power of generosity and our shared commitment to helping young people thrive.
